Programs and Services

    Parent Aide, home based intervention: Trained Parent Aides work in the homes of high risk families and teach nurturing and non-abusive parenting through the use of modeling, literature, DVDs, and other educational materials.  Parent Aides also assist parents in addressing additional situations and factors which place the children at risk of abuse and neglect.  This program is tailored for the specific needs of the clients.
    Community Awareness Campaign:  The Center participates in a wide variety of community based education initiatives to build community awareness of child abuse and neglect.  The Center also provides programming and support for schools, churches, and local civic organizations.
    Supervised Visitation:  Parent Aides can provide supervised visitation between parents and their children which have been placed in foster care.  Supervised Visitation and Monitored Exchange service are also available for families involved in custody conflicts and or visitation cases. 
    Divorcing Parents Seminar:  Four hour education seminar designed for parents who have or are currently experiencing divorce.  This program assists parents with helping their children cope with the short and long term effects of divorce.
    Other Services:  On site resource library, information services, inter-agency referral services.
The Family Resource Center has served 10,187 people, including 5,420 children, in Floyd county from 2008-2012.
This accounts for 2,344 families!!!

Referral Forms

Below are descriptions of each type of form, along with links to blank referral forms. Please fill out the appropriate form(s) and email the completed form(s) to April P. Worthington, Director of Family Services.
Voluntary Parent Aide: Any agencies, schools, doctors’ offices, or individuals may an individual or themselves for these services.  Requirements to qualify for services are:  The family must reside in Rome/Floyd County, have at least one child under the age of 12 in the home, and are willing participants.
Visitation Program: Provides supervised visitation and parent aide services to families with children foster care.  Referrals must come from the Placement Division of the Floyd County Department of Family & Children’s Services (DFCS).  Requirements to qualify for services are:  The children of the family unit must be in the custody (physical and/or legal) of Floyd County DFCS and the family is working toward the goal of reunification.
